For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.” Featuring an emerging ensemble cast and a powerful soundtrack, “Prom” hits theaters April 29, 2011.



Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite.

I went to a pre-screening of PROM on Wednesday night and I have to tell you it wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be. It was a lot more. It’s not just a movie for those of us who have been to PROM, aren’t going to PROM for a while or who have never been. It’s not just a movie about the last dance, it’s about growing as a person changing, moving on, being more accepting, and not wanting to settle for less.

We had an amazing time! Chucky was thrilled when he saw that Radio Disney was there for the screening. They were great, they had us dancing singing, and getting pumped up for PROM!

My favorite character was Rolo. He seemed like he would be the guy who really didn’t care about PROM but he was quiet the opposite and even had plans with his girlfriend Athena. As he was getting prepared for PROM one of his classmates, Ali didn’t believe that he had a date for PROM. I still am not sure if she wanted his ticket, was just being nosey or wanted to see him fall flat on his face at PROM.
Another great thing that was brought to my attention was The Cinderella Boutique. Cinderella Boutique is a project of the Young Lawyers Division of the Utah State Bar(YLD). They(YLD) collects new and gently used prom dresses, special occasion dresses, and accessories for it’s Cinderella Boutique. During Homecoming and Prom season, YLD hosts Cinderella Boutiques at highschools and other locations in the Salt Lake Valley. High school girls are invited to the Boutiques to select a dress, pair of shoes and other accessories to borrow for Homecoming or Prom at no charge.
YLD accepts donations of new and gently used prom dresses, special occasion dresses, shoes, accessories, and new makeup as well as jewelry or samples. I know that with Mother’s Day right around the corner we are always thinking about something unique that we could get for that special lady or special ladies in our life. This year I found an amazing gift that you can give to celebrate them as well as help out other woman.
This Mother’s Day will be more amazing than the last one!

I continually think of not only my mom on Mother’s Day but my Gram as well. She helps lift my spirits when I didn’t even realize that I need them lifted. She was is an amazing woman who continually makes me smile and know that I am a beautiful, smart and, great person even when I don’t feel that way sometimes.

My Gram is a very compassionate, beautiful, giving, and smart lady. Before she died she was campaigning for a presidential candidate that nobody knew was even on the ballet because she believed in what he had to offer the United States of America and although he was an unknown it didn’t stop her from standing strong for something that she believed in.

My Gram was also very wise, I could go to her with something that was weighing on me and she wouldn’t give me the, if you do this, or if you do that. She always said, ‘No matter what decision you make it will be a good one.’ ‘If it doesn’t work out, you’ll learn from it and move on a smarter, more wise woman who knows what and what not to do the next time.’ I would just ask her, ‘How do you know all of these things Gram?’ She would tell me, ‘I am old, I have been around the world and I have made my fair share of mistakes.’

Whether my Gram knew it or not, she helped me to see a variety of things: if I was compassionate about something stick with it and make sure that I shared my compassion with others. If I wanted something, to go after it and I would acheive it. If I needed help, ask for it.

This brings me to the Heart of Haiti Project. The Heart of Haiti Project is an initiative fouded by Willa Shalit(daughter of Gene Shalit) and her company Fairwinds Trading. It’s a for-profit company that uses buisness strategy for economic empowerment of people, especially woman in the Majority World. The Majority World is where two billion of th world’s three billion people live and in poverty.

Heart of Haiti is a partnership through Macy’s and their Shop For A Better World Initiative. They offer artisan-crafted, decorative arts, and jewelry for sale. All income derived frm sales of the products on the Heart of Haiti site enhances an artisan’s family through nutrition, education, access to healthcare, and dignity.

How It’s Helping:
The devastating earthquake of January 2010 has made it virtually impossible for Haitians to make a living. Raw materials have been wiped out, there are a lack of secure and sanitary conditions and little funding to support economic relief.

Purchasing one of the handcrafted masterpieces directly benefits Haitian artisans by allowing them to support their families with dignity and purpose. Artisans receive 22 percent of the retail price for each item in the collection.


This initiative offers the first sustainable income since the earthquake, enabling artisans to repair homes, pay school fees and feed and clothe their families. With steady income comes better nutrition, improved education and access to healthcare.


Heart of Haiti also offers new opportunities for artists to collaborate with US designers, strengthening artisan associations and inspiring and energizing their communities. Men and women are working together, gaining confidence and hope for the future. Master artisans who planned to leave the country are now staying behind to train the next generation. My mom deserves to win a $250 SkinCare Rx gift card because she is always putting herself second and for once she deserves to have herself put in first place. She is kind, giving, selfless, strong, and amazing! I remember when my son was born. I always thought I would have to call my whole family and tell them to get to the hospital because I was going to have a baby but it didn’t happen that way. My Grandpas brother died so half of my family went to San Diego for the funeral and my mom decided to stay with me because I started seeing my doctor every week because my stomach was measuring smaller and smaller with each visit.

I went to go pick my mother up the morning of my appointment and she asked me, ‘Aren’t you going to get cleaned up?’ I was cleaned up! I couldn’t sleep all night so I took a shower at about three a.m. thinking it would make me feel better but it hadn’t so I decided to get ready for the day. Yeah it was about five hours before I had to get to the appointment but hey at least I showered!!

I sat around playing solitaire while waiting for her to get ready and then we headed to the doctor. I hadn’t known it then but my mom was going to be my bestfriend and in a way my significant other. I had a lot of decisions to make and luckily I had her there to help me. We went into the sonogram room and started getting ready to hear the measurements of the baby when I hear the doctor say, ‘Oh I can’t find his head.’ ‘WHAT, my son is going to be headless?’ ‘No, his head is in the birth canal and is ready to come into this world.’ I couldn’t think, my heart was pounding, my words were all coming out in one jumbled sentence and I felt as though I was in an outer body experience.

I was sent over to the local hospital to wait for Life Flight and for them to monitor the baby. I wasn’t there longer than an hour and in that time my mom made arraingements for me at work, got our clothes and called the family she could get a hold of on the phone.

We waited what seemed like forever before they decided to take me by ambulance because Life Flight was out on another call. The ambulance was being driven by an old school mate of mine and so we had a lot to talk about! lol All the while my mom was there checking on me and making sure I was okay. We made it to the hospital and I thought they were just going to send me home after giving me the once over.

Mom stepped out for a moment to see if she could get my dad on the phone(he was in San Diego)and when she came back they were giving me an epideral. I was panicked because nobody would explain to me why or what wa going on. My mom came over and stroked my hand as the doctor explained to me that my sons heart rate was declining and if they didn’t do an emergency c-section then he wasn’t going to survive. Once it was explained me that my sons life was on the line I let them do what they needed to do.

The nurses came in to get me to take me into the operating room and asked if my husband was going to be in there, I said, ‘No, I am not married.’ They asked if I had anyone in mind that I would like to go in with me and before I could say my mom, she already had the white suit and hair cap on and was about done putting the shoe covers on. I didn’t need to ask her to step up, she just did it.

They were moving rather quickly and my personality and sense of humor aren’t  always welomed or doesn’t come out at the best moments or in certain circumstances so as you could imagine they must have thought I was a psych patient. They began to put the blue sheet up between my top half and bottom half and I joked with them about why they had to put it up. I told them that they put that up so I couldn’t tell if they were doing something wrong and not to worry that Iwouldn’t sue if something did go wrong. Yeah it was a crazy time with crazy jokes. My arms were strapped out to my sides and I couldn’t turn around and run for the door.

My mom continually stroked my hair and made sure to tell me that everything would be okay. They began to cut and unfortunately they didn’t have time to wait until the epideral kicked in before they had to start taking my son out. I was trying really hard not to move when I heard the doctor tell me that they were ready. He explained each step as he went along(so I wouldn’t joke about the sheet anymore)he was very informative when I had questions to ask and was very willing to answer them. He was getting closer and closer and then I heard him say, ‘I can see his legs and I am getting ready to cut into the placenta to grab him; it may take a minute because I have to get his head out of the birth canal.’

I didn’t hear any talking for a while and then I heard, ‘It’s a boy!’ I wasn’t shocked because whether or not it was a girl it was going to be a boy. I couldn’t have a girl knowing what type of girl I was when I was younger. My mom shouted, ‘He has a lot of black hair!’ I replied, ‘Are you sure it’s black and not red, because sometimes red hair can look dark and it’s not.’ ‘Nope, it’s black,’ she said. I was relived. The nurse brought him over once he was covered and let me give him a kiss on his head before they whisked him off to the NICU(Newborn Intensive Care Unit).

My mom was beaming just as bright as I was. I told her that she could leave me to go be with my son that he couldn’t be alone. I also sent her with some very important instructions:
#1 Make sure they spell his first, last and middle name right
#2 Make sure his hair wasn’t red
#3 Make sure they are taking care of him
#4 Make sure he knows I will be with him as soon as I can

Once they stitched me up and put me into my private room, I was ready to go see my son except I couldn’t keep my eyes open. My epideral finally kicked in along with the pain medication. I was asleep when I heard the door creak open and I saw my moms shadow in the doorway. I was relieved to see her and yet a little upset that she wasn’t with my son. She explained to me that they kicked her out while they switch shifts. I wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. I didn’t feel like I needed her and that my son needed her more than I did. She stayed with me until the shift change was over and then she was gone again.

I can’t say that I was jealous that my son was getting all of my moms attention but I was wanting her probably as badly as he was wanting me. She was absolutely amazing, she didn’t leave the hospital or mine or my sons side once, she stayed with my son while I went accross the street to shower, or went downstairs to get something to eat.

Looking back, I don’t think I would have been able to keep it all together without my mom by mine and my sons side. I didn’t have to ask her once for anything, she seemed to know exactly what or why I needed something. My mom has continually been there for me and my son and I couldn’t imagine it any other way!

Although my mom is always putting herself second, she will alway’s be #1 to me!
That is just one of the reasons why my mom is the most Beautiful Mom in the world!

“From television to magazines, we are exposed to plastic surgery,” says Dr. Salzhauer, “it has become an everyday circumstance, especially for children. I am so excited to tell you about the (PMD) Personal Microderm System. It is a personal microdermabrasion at home system that your able to use at home or anywhere! I know, now you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars, gas money, and time going to a salon or spa to get great looking skin.

Since I have been diagnosed with cancer my skin has gotten absolutely horrible. I have extreme acne, constant breakouts, enlarged pores and acne scarring. I am so embarrassed and self conscious about my skin that I have actually given up trying to conceal it because it makes it look ten times worse. I have tried many, many, many products(that is probably an understatement). I even went as far as getting on a high dose of antibiotics(they made me so sick but it was worth it to me if my skin would improve). I became depressed and had to be put on an antidepressant. I started to believe that I was just going to have to deal with my new; unflattering skin.

I was given the Personal Microderm System to review and to tell you the truth I was on the fence. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, thinking my skin would get better or even clear up. I had that hope before and wasn’t ready for the extreme let down again.

*Before using the Personal Microderm System read all directions carefully and watch the instructional dvd.*

The exfoliating discs determine what type of ‘abrasion’ your going to get. The green exfoliating discs are more abrasive and are for tougher/thicker skin and the blue exfoliator discs are a finer grit more for sensitive skin. They also include large and small discs. The larger discs are for larger surface areas like the body and the smaller discs are for your face and neck.

The Personal Microdem rotates the discs to remove the dead, dry skin from your face to make way for newer skin. It also has a vacuum type suction to bring the skin closer to the exfoliating discs as well as remove some of the dead skin cells.
Once you’ve decided on the type of disc is best for your skin type your going to pull your skin taught and upwards. You’ll turn the PMD on and place it on your face going in an upward motion making sure not to stay in one place. If you keep it in one place too long it will start to go penetrate the dead skin and into your fresh new skin and cause a sore and scabbing. You’ll start to see a white ‘film’ on your skin which is the dead skin cells being removed from your face(which is kind of nice-as you can see where you’ve already passed with the PMD). Once your done you’ll wash your face again, dry well, apply the M2 Skin Moisturizer and then a SPF. The PMD is supposed to be used once every two weeks or less depending on how your skin reacts to the first use.

Personal Microderm System Review:

I found the PMD extremely easy to use and can’t imagine my skin without it ever again. My skin hasn’t felt this good in such a long time. I can see a big change in my skins texture, tone, pore size and color. I have had clearer skin just after the first couple of uses and am really excited to see the results with regular use.
The one drawback to the PMD are the M2 products that you have to buy seperately. It came with the M2 Skin Refinish 20% Serum and the M2 Skin Moisturizer for this review, but I only got a couple of uses out of them. I would aslo like to add that the PMD isn’t just for acne prone skin but also for those with rosacea, wrinkles, sun spots, and uneven skin.

For years we’ve been using our backyard patio area to grill out and entertain our friends. But now that we have a new baby, we thought that it would be good to makeover that area to make it a better spot for our growing family.

Even though we’ve been baby-proofing all other areas of our home, we knew that this area would be a little different. We went online to find some tips about doing that and while I was doing that I saw the website http://www.wildbluedeals.com/. We looked through it some and after that I decided to sign up for one of the home internet packages I found on it.

We’re going to get rid of a lot ! of sharp corners that we have out there and find some way to make the grill inaccessible to the baby. We may also replace the bricks that we have on the ground out there with some more attractive and soft flooring that will be easy for little Sebastian to crawl on when he gets to that age, which I’m sure will be before we know it.
