Gettin’ Crafty With It-Nah,Nah,Nah,Nah

I know my title is cheesy but it will be stuck in your head ALL day-NO?
So I have taken a lot of online(Youtube)sewing classes and have read an insane amount of tutorials on sewing and I felt as though I was ready to sew some things other than an applique onto a shirt(that didn’t go so hot!)But nothing to hard with a lot of curves etc. as I don’t want to ruin my expensive cute fabric without having the skills of a mediocre seamstress! I find that-that is the hardest thing for me to do, use my cute fabric that I paid a lot of money for! I don’t ever feel that way with a good hamburger though? HMM

My best girlfriend had a new baby{Squeal}a boy but I can still make some cute things because he is so tiny and won’t care right now if he has to wear something that he probably wouldn’t wear when he was older. If you catch my drift? Don’t worry it isn’t something that he will resent me for later.

*Okay you can stop reading this if I made you believe that I sewed a whole layette set or a crib set because I don’t want to disappoint you!*

I made this cute receiving blanket and some burpees with these FREE patterns! I am a little disappointed in the way they look but hey, this is my first shot at it! I know what I will do differently the next time!

I know you have all seen baker’s twine and maybe even bought some. I love it and thought about buying some to, but shockingly I couldn’t justify purchasing it. I found this genius tutorial and guess who has bakers twine now?? Yup that’s right me:) I even used my sons Crayola markers to make mine! Total cost of my baker’s twine:$1.97! Isn’t this idea GENIUS??

What have you been making?? Please share, I know I am not good, but that’s how it goes in La La Land! Share your projects with me so I can get some inspiration,  practice and get better!

Bring Back The Old Fashioned Summer

When we were younger, we were not allowed to play inside during the Summer. We weren’t allowed to come in until it was almost dark, right as soon as the street lights came on, and we could hear mom shout across the neighborhood, ‘Erlinda, Chacoy, Emilio and Joseph Michael, it’s time to come home!’ We would hop on our bikes and ride as fast as we could as not to get a hair pulling walking in the door for not being in before pitch darkness hit! We would hit the showers and then to bed so we could be up and ready to go play outside the next morning bright and early.

???My mom would have a conniption if we came into the house, we couldn’t even come in to use the bathroom. As soon as that front door opened my mom would scream, ‘What do you want?’ and before we could answer she would holler, ‘Get outside!’ We would holler back, ‘I have to use the bathroom.’ she would reply(scream), ‘Hurry it up and get back outside!’ We would quickly use the restroom and head back out. It got to the point where my sister and I would ask the neighbor if we could use their bathroom and the boys well they just went outside. We got drinks from the hose and had full access to the freezer full of Otter Pops in the garage.

What was our moms excuse for keeping us outside all day? She was washing the floors. Now mind you we had one piece of linoleum by the front door, carpet and then linoleum in the kitchen and parkay wood in the dining room so it wasn’t as though she had all of these floors to sweep and mop. My mom would clean the floors from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Why 4:30? That’s what time dad came home. Not kidding almost everyday!

?The neighborhood kids would ask to come over and play and we would always tell them, ‘You can come over but we can’t go inside.’ ‘Why not?’ we would reply, ‘My mom is washing the floors.’ They would ask the next day, same answer. One day Tidge the neighbor said, ‘Man you must have really clean floors!’ He had a point!
We didn’t mind playing outside, but that was long before technology. We had a lot of fun playing baseball, riding bikes, playing night games, riding our skateboards, jumping on the trampoline, riding our Roller Racers, scooters and of course running through the sprinklers. Looking back it’s kind of funny because not a single friend minded not being able to go into the house, to use the bathroom, get a drink, or play inside and we had the whole neighborhood over here everyday!

? Chucky has been out of school for Summer break since May 23rd and he has only been outside to play a handful of times. I can’t get him to do anything!

So my question is why can’t our kids go a single day without coming in, getting a drink, playing inside with a friend, using the bathroom, and getting something to eat? Should we take away the technology for the Summer? Should I wash my floors from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm? How do you get your kids outside to play?

Gummibär

Have you seen the green, jiggly cute Gummibär? If you haven’t your are missing out! The first time I heard of this cute, jiggly, green bear was when Chucky was surfing Youtube on his iPod Touch. I could only hear it in the backround under Chucky’s giggles-over Gummibär’s jiggles but didn’t want to disrupt my fun Chucky’s fun so I let him be while watching from a crack in the door. He was singing as he played the video’s over and over to learn the words and having fun. Who am I to interrupt that?

Gummibär not only dances, but sings. He sings in English, Hungarian, French, Spanish, and Swedish and learning new languages everyday. His debut CD is called I Am Your Gummy Bear and has 15 catchy songs such as I Am Gummy Bear(The Gummy Bear Song), Funny DJ, Cho Ka Ka O, Gummy From Bom Bom Bay, Buj Buj Polka, and many more. Each of which includes bonus track versions of The Gummy Bear Song in Spanish and Hungarian.

You can follow Gummibär on his journey here Facebook, Twitter and on his website.

Check out Gummibär’s video and tell me that this is not the cuteset jiggly, green bear in tighty yellows you’ve ever seen! Do your kids already know and love Gummibär?s

Manic Music Monday is when I like to take a moment to share music that I am loving, just heard and can not wait to share it with you!

Jordin Sparks has a new song out that I just love! I Am Woman is a very inspiring song that not only makes you feel good to be a woman but reinforces that is isn’t easy being a woman and ‘Who else is going to do it’?

Do you like her new song? Why?

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I love music and want to share what I like with others.

Father’s Day with the Griswolds!

I hope you all had a great day with your Father’s, Grandfather’s, and those special men in your lives.

We had a great day! My brothers came down on Saturday evening, and then we went out to dinner. We went on Saturday because the weather was supposed to be horrible on Sunday(which it was). It turned out great because we got to eat out on the deck of the restaurant and so it was private. We drank, ate, talked, and laughed! I am sure that I have told you on many occasions that we were dubbed the ‘Griswolds’ because of our family antics and real-life stories!

On Sunday morning dad went golfing, he came home opened his presents and cards then we ate cupcakes! He got a lot of shirts for golf, some pajama pants, a poster for his theater room and some hankies!
You’ll never catch my dad without a hankie! I think next year I will make him some personalized ones!!
