C.R.A.F.T | June Package Pal 1

Okay so I am obsessed with blog swaps! It is such a fun way to meet new people, whether you are into crafts, nail polish, jewelry or whatever you may interested in, there is a swap for it! C.R.A.F.T. {Creating Really Awesome Free Things}, hosts a Package Pal swap every other month and I was lucky enough to get in on the June Package Pal swap.

Not only did I have a lot of fun, but I got paired up with the most amazing partner ever, Shannon! She is very talented(she will try to convince you otherwise!) Her pillows were recently featured on GroopDealz! She is married to her high school sweet heart and they have two adorable kids!

When I first started corresponding with her back and forth, I had to take a double take of some of the emails because I thought that I had sent it but it was from her!

I am a perfectionist and I’m indecisive- it’s a terrible combination. I like to sew, but I’m horrible at it:( My sewing machine totally kicks my butt!  Right now I am redecorating my house. I tend to be one of those people who thinks they can DIY anything… and then I quickly realize I’m not as talented as I thought:)

Which is totally me! I think, “It can’t be that hard?” Until I actually start doing it and have a a lot few projects sitting there unfinished or completely destroyed!

So in talking with Shannon I asked her a million and one question to get a better feel on what to make her and when she told me,

I love all things crafty except for scrapbooking- I could spend a week on one page and never be happy with the results.

I kind of wanted to cry and laugh because I can totally feel her pain! My baby is 12 years old and I am on 9 months! So when I found these cute little Composition notebooks at the Dollar Store, I knew I had to create my version of a ‘junk journal’ or scrapbook that she could easily throw into her handbag and add pictures or journaling if she wanted!

Also during our emailing back and forth she told me,

i love hair ”jewelry” or accessories but I am sometimes a little to self conscious that I can’t pull them off

So I decided to make some little resin flower cabochon bobbies that she could ease into instead of going all out with a big flower or something! I also sent her some blank bobbies and cabochons so she could make her own. Along with some cute Scottie Dog’s & mustaches(Sorry forgot a photo)!

She also told me,

My favorite color is yellow (i think) but honestly I love them all.

So I made this yellow faux leather clutch with a hot pink zipper! In the spirit of the email when I said, it looks easy and I could do that….I made 2-3 before making this last one for her which turned out really good if I say so myself!

I also sent a few other goodies that Shannon will be sharing on her blog!

I will also be sharing what she sent me with you very soon!

Have you ever participated in a swap? Do you like them? What is your favorite swap item to get or receive?

Thanks Lindsay! Was this a lot of fun or what?! My partner Shannon and I had so much fun getting to know each other and making our items; we gave each other sneak peeks throughout the process which made the anticipation grow! It’s scary that they may not like what you’ve made or gave, but so fun because you never know what your going to get!
I sent you an email regarding the journal & bobbies;)

  2. I think the clutch is gorgeous and I love your blog name! I’m sure that we will bump into eachother at some point. I visit Lalaland often!

      LOL! I would always say, ‘Sorry, I am Living in La La Land!’ So when my lil’ blog started growing and going in a different direction so I changed to Living in La La Land & have been quiet comfy in La La Land ever since. I have a feeling a lot of people visit La La Land more then they think or want to admit(;

Thanks Katie, that clutch was going to be the death of me but I had already given her a sneak peek of the faux leather so I had to follow through! LOL

I love your business idea, that is GENIUS! It looks like they had a lot of fun even though it was raining!

Thanks for stopping by and I am sure we will meet again(:

  3. Love your package! Junk journals to have especially when someone makes it for you! lol You did a sweet job on yours to her. This was a fun month to play. It was my first time and I had a great partner, too!
