During the winter months it is definitely harder for me to keep a regular exercise schedule and to eat more healthy because I don’t want to go outside into the cold and I also want to make and eat items that are warm; with options like soups, casseroles, fried foods and so many more that are usually not too healthy for you, I have decided to not only keep a regular schedule for exercise, eat healthier and cook healthier as well.
Chucky and I love us some IHOP (International House of Pancakes) and when I found out that they were offering a Simple & Fit Menu I was over joyed! Not only could we enjoy eating out at IHOP but we could do it by keeping it simple and getting fit with the IHOP Simple & Fit menu!
IHOP and Quaker® Oats have joined forces to expand their Simple & Fit menu. Items on the Simple & Fit menu are under 600 calories and contain a lot of delicious choices!
Super Fruit Oatmeal
A bowl of freshly-made toasted Quaker® Oats, lightly sweetened with cinnamon sugar and topped with a blend of five dried super fruits. Blueberries, dark cherries, cranberries, raisins and golden raisins. (290 calories)
Super Fruit Oatmeal with Almonds and Walnuts
A bowl of freshly made toasted Quaker® Oats, lightly sweetened with cinnamon sugar, and topped with almonds, walnuts and a blend of five dried super fruits. Blueberries, dark cherries, cranberries, raisins and gold raisins. (330 calories)
Banana and Brown Sugar Oatmeal
A bowl of freshly made bowl of toasted Quaker® Oats topped with fresh banana slices and served with brown sugar and milk. (260 calories)
Whole Wheat Pancakes Combo
Blueberries atop of two whole wheat pancakes sprinkled with powdered sugar; served with egg substitute and two strips of turkey bacon. (460 calories)
Whole Wheat Waffle Combo
A whole wheat waffle topped with lightly sweetened blueberries and powdered sugar served with egg substitute and two strips of turkey bacon. (510 calories)
Whole Wheat Crepes
Two whole wheat crepes filled with sweet cream cheese topped with lightly sweetened blueberries and powdered sugar. (380 calories)
Kid’s Whole Wheat Pancake Combo
Whole wheat pancake topped with lightly sweetened blueberries and powdered sugar served with egg substitute and one strip of turkey bacon. (230 calories)
All of them sound so good and don’t contain too many calories; the super fruits are an added bonus as they are flavorful, deliciously juicy and known to exhibit nutrient richness and antioxidant qualities.
While they all sounded delicious, I decided to try the whole wheat pancakes and egg substitute. I must say that the only thing that was missing when it arrived was the butter on top. I know that it’s supposed to be low calorie and healthy but they could offer a butter substitute!
The whole wheat pancakes tasted great and were loaded with blueberries and had plenty of banana on the top too! I hate when there isn’t enough banana. I did add a little bit of syrup to them but not much.
Chucky couldn’t decided on the Kid’s Whole Wheat Pancake Combo or the Ham and Egg Melt and ultimately decided to go with the Ham and Egg Melt. I was a little disappointed that he chose this but he wanted french fries.
